Before her announcement, Kate had been absent from duty since her surgery and had rarely been seen in public.
The mum-of-three said her diagnosis came as a huge shock, which she and husband Prince William had been processing privately for the sake of their young family.
She said it had taken time for them to explain her diagnosis to George, Charlotte and Louis.
“As I have said to them, I am well and I’m getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body and spirit,” Kate said in her announcement.
She also thanked everyone for their understanding while she recovered from surgery.
As we enter the warmer season, there’s lots for the Princess to look forward to as she undergoes treatment and recovery.
Fabulous put together a chronological list of the major milestones she will mark in the coming months.
Her Younger Brother’s Birthday
Kate’s brother, James Middleton, will turn 37 on April 15.
The pair are close, with James sharing a childhood photo of them on his Instagram following Kate’s news going public.
He penned in the caption: “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together.
“As a family, we will climb this one with you too.”
It’s not the first time he’s spoken highly of Kate publicly.
On Good Morning Britain in July last year, James shared how he’s “extremely proud” of his royal sister.
“I’m always taken aback by how much she does,” he said.
“But to be honest, she’s my sister, so I know all of her quirks and everything and to see her blossoming in that role.
“I’m very proud of her.”
Prince Louis’ Sixth Birthday
The youngest of Kate and William’s children, Prince Louis, will turn six on April 23.
Known for his cheekiness and livening up public appearances for the Royal Family, he has fondly become known as ‘Boss Baby’ amongst royal fans in recent years.

Her 13th Wedding Anniversary
On April 29, Kate and William will mark 13 years as a married couple.
She paid tribute to him in her announcement video, describing him as “a great source of comfort”.

“As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you.
“It means so much to us both.”
The couple first crossed paths in 2001 when they went to university together at St. Andrews, initially connecting as friends before things turned romantic a year later.
They tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in London in a televised event which was watched by millions all over the world in 2011.
Princess Charlotte’s Ninth Birthday
Kate and William’s middle child, Princess Charlotte, will turn nine on May 2.
On her eighth birthday last year, amateur photographer Kate released a photo that she snapped herself to mark the milestone.
Charlotte gave a toothy grin while sitting on a white wicker chair.
Kate regularly receives plaudits for her snaps of her three children, which she shows to the world on their birthdays or to mark other special occasions.
Anniversary of King Charles’ Coronation
On May 6, it will have been a whole year since King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned.
The service was watched by millions worldwide, following global heartbreak when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, sadly passed away in September 2022.

It’s unlikely a formal celebration will take place for the milestone, but Kate will still have lots to reminisce about from the lavish day last year.
Like Kate, 75-year-old Charles has recently undergone treatment for cancer.
His diagnosis followed treatment for an enlarged prostate in January.
He has made a “significant step” in his cancer treatment following his Easter Sunday appearance, a source revealed over the weekend.
